This English checklist asks authors to confirm that the submission is unpublished, correctly formatted, anonymized, accompanied by a separate author file, and compliant with the journal’s citation rules.

Before you begin, review the submission guidelines.

    Submission and originality

    • The work has not been published and is not under review at another journal. If there is an exception, explain it in “Comments to the Editor.”

    • The file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, or RTF format.

    Formatting

    • Letter-size pages with 3 cm margins on all edges, single spacing, and no space between paragraphs.

    • No first-line indentation and justified text.

    • Times New Roman 12 for text and 10 for footnotes.

    • URLs are included for references where available.

    Two versions of the manuscript

    1. Anonymized version: no names or signatures, no self-references, and clean file properties. In Word, go to File > Save As > Tools (or Options on Mac) > Security > Remove personal information from file properties on save.

    2. Full version: includes the data of all authors.

    Separate author file

    • Full name, institution, email address, and ORCID for each author.

    • A brief curriculum vitae of no more than ten lines.

    • All data match exactly what is declared on the platform.

    Platform metadata

    • Title, summary, and keywords are complete. If the article is in Spanish, include the summary and keywords in English.

    • Co-authors are identified with their institutional affiliation.

    Citations and bibliography

    • The text follows the style and bibliography rules in the author instructions.

    • References follow APA 7th edition strictly.

    Responsible use of artificial intelligence

The original checklist does not mention AI. I recommend including the following checks as good practice:

    • If you used AI tools, you disclosed this in the manuscript and described how you used them.

    • You manually verified every citation, reference, and data point, since you are responsible for the final content.

Editorial criterion of territoriality (recommended, not mandatory)

The journal’s guidelines promote work with public impact in the Chilean jurisdiction and the strengthening of territoriality from the Global South, without excluding international topics. Consider the following:

    • If the work addresses the Chilean legal system, you may state this in the title or summary.

    • If the work addresses an international topic, you may explain its relevance to the Global South or to the region in the summary.

    • The work has public impact or contributes to the legal debate in its context.

    • If the work analyzes a law, a judgment, or a problem from another country, state clearly how it relates to the local or regional debate.

Note: This section does not appear in the system’s list of requirements. The journal does not reject submissions for not meeting these recommendations. Before including it in the final checklist, confirm with the editor whether it should appear as a requirement or as a recommendation.

Here is the same guide in English, with the key rules in bold.

Submission and authorship

  1. Submit papers only through the OJS system. Access and instructions are under the “access for authors” link: https://revistas.uautonoma.cl/index.php/rjydpage
  2. Indicate the section your contribution belongs to: studies or doctrinal articles, commentaries on judgments, book reviews, or communications. For doctrinal articles, state the area of law.
  3. In the first footnote, marked with an asterisk (*), include institution, city, country, email, and your ORCID identifier. You can create an ORCID at https://orcid.org/register
  4. Each author may submit only one article per year, either as sole author or co-author.

Format

  • US letter pages with 3 cm margins on all sides.
  • Times New Roman 12 for text and 10 for footnotes.
  • Single spacing, no space between paragraphs, no first-line indent, and justified text.
  • Maximum length: 20 pages.

Structure

  • The title goes in bold and capitals according to RAE rules, in Spanish and English.
  • Follow it with a summary of 200 to 300 words in both languages and at least five keywords in both languages.
  • It is recommended to include an introduction, development, conclusion, and bibliography.
  • Sections are numbered with Arabic numerals, with headings justified left and in bold. It is recommended not to exceed three levels of subdivision (for example, 1.1.1).
  • Include only images, tables, and graphs relevant to the topic. Each one must be in .jpg format at the end of the article.

Bibliography and citations

  • At the end, include the sections “Cited Bibliography”, “Cited Norms”, and “Cited Jurisprudence”, in small caps, and list only sources you actually use.
  • Sort the bibliography alphabetically by the author’s first surname.
  • Write authors’ full names, not just initials. The journal aims to make women’s contributions to legal scholarship more visible.
  • Provide the DOI or URL for electronic references.
  • For judgments, give the parties (first surname or initials), the year in brackets, the court, and the date. If the judgment comes from an official source, such as https://www.poderjudicial.cl, add the full link.
  • For voluntary arbitral awards, family law cases involving minors, and certain sexual offence cases, use only the parties’ initials.

Editorial policy

  • The journal applies a Policy on Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, with blind peer review.
  • Authors keep the rights to their works. Publication is under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license (Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives).

Points to confirm with the journal

  • Submission languages: the Spanish version lists Spanish, English, or Portuguese, while the English version mentions only Spanish and English.
  • Summary length: the English version asks for 200 to 300 words, while the Spanish version says “300 caracteres máximo” (300 characters maximum).
