Abstract
Due to the importance that the research grants to the leadership abilities of sports coaches, we propose a systematic review. The objective that we pursue is to give a current and detailed view of the state of the question on the study of the influence of the coach's leadership on athletes. The methodology we use is the same as a systematic review established by the PRISMA statement, with five phases. As a database to consult, we focus on the Web of Science. Results: We obtain a total of 11 valid articles for the study. Among other results, we found that studies of this type have been carried out in 9 different countries, that 14 different sports have been studied and that the most used questionnaire to measure the coach's leadership is the LSS (Leadership Scale for Sport). Discussion and conclusions: We conclude that this is a topic that is booming and has a growing interest worldwide, because the studies that conform this work, argue the importance and impact of leadership exercised by coaches, in such important aspects in the sport like, group cohesion, team confidence, satisfaction and well-being of the athletes, and team performance.
