Analysis of the Servicio Nacional de Menores project on education for law enforcement violators against international Social Reintegration standards

Abstract

This research gives a global contrast to the social reintegration of law enforcement, under national juvenile delinquency regulations 20,084. In the face of this, the Servicio Nacional de Menores (SENAME) implements, through its plans, programs focused on different axes to promote the rehabilitation process. Education is one of them, and its importance lies in handing over the tools that will strengthen children's ability to face the world once their sentence is served. In this context, the main objective is to analyze SENAME's educational program for law enforcement violators against international standards of social reintegration. This is done through a model of documentary analysis in which a context is first carried out on legislative issues and international standards, and then evidence of whether the latter are met. It is concluded that the State of Chile, in its obligation as a facilitator of social rights and the low record in studies related to minor law violators, only complies with the formal educational structure.
