RULES FOR PERPETRATORS
Journal of Management and Business Studies (JM&BS) publishes original research articles that contribute to the knowledge of the study area and focus on the established editorial lines. To comply with the standards of quality and academic excellence, JM&BS has the following editorial rules, which must be followed by those authors who wish to submit articles for evaluation, and with this contribute and strengthen the academic knowledge of both Chile and the world.
SECTION POLICY AND SCOPE
JM&BS is open to different disciplinary, theoretical, thematic and methodological perspectives of administration and business. Authors can present articles in a variety of areas of knowledge, such as: strategic management, social responsibility, public administration, information technologies, organizational behavior, economics, accounting, leadership, entrepreneurship, consumer behaviour, knowledge management, operations management, innovation, finance, human resources, marketing, management control, international business, among others.
Articles submitted to WYD must be unpublished and original, and not postulated simultaneously in other journals. WYD publishes five types of articles:
1) Research article. It is that research that presents original results obtained from quantitative or qualitative research. These investigations have a theoretical and conceptual structure, in order to contribute to knowledge, analyzing the implications obtained from the different results. These articles should have a structure consisting of: a) introduction; b) literature review; c) methodology, d) analysis of results; e) conclusions, limitations and implications; and f) references.
2) Article of Review. It is research that carries out an analysis and review of existing literature on a particular subject or theory. Its aim is to synthesize studies of a topic, to update the reader on the state of the art. In this type of article a bibliographic review of at least 50 references must be presented.
3) Article of Reflection. It is research that presents results derived from a finished research and/or several publications that support a line of scientific thought. This type of research is based on an analytical, interpretive or critical perspective of the author, on a specific topic, using original sources.
4) Theoretical article. It is that research that analyzes the existing literature to advance in a new theoretical proposal. In this type of research it should be emphasized what is the existing vacuum, and in reason of this to show that the new finding contributes with the body of knowledge of the study area.
5) Methodological article. It is that research that contributes with a new methodological approach in the analysis of research topics. This type of research can propose improvements to existing methodologies based on a theoretical and/or empirical perspective.
ARTICLE STRUCTURE POLICY
Articles published in WYD must have the following structure:
Title. The first page must contain the title of the article in Spanish, English and Portuguese, with a maximum of 15 words in length. The title responds specifically to the content of the article. In the writing of the title, acronyms and acronyms should be avoided, and this should be explanatory and reflect the essence of the work.
Authors. On the first page you must indicate the full name of the author or authors, as well as their (s) institution (s) of affiliation, without placing professional titles, academic degrees and electronic address. The authors must be ordered according to the contribution. In each article can participate a maximum of 5 authors. The author’s curriculum (or authors) should be written at the foot of the page. The curriculum of each of the authors (in 5 lines maximum per author) must contain the name of the author, institution of affiliation, city and country of origin of the institution, academic training (together with the granting institutions), e-mail address and ORCID (www.orcid.org). Indicate the main author to whom the correspondence should be addressed (author for correspondence).
Abstract. The first page should include a summary in Spanish, English and Portuguese. The maximum length of the abstract is 250 words. The summary should contain a brief introduction, objectives or purposes, methodology, results obtained, and main conclusions.
Keywords. On the first page should be noted 5 keywords. These keywords should describe the content of the work, and be written in English and Spanish, according to the UNESCO Thesaurus (http://vocabularies.unesco.org/browser/thesaurus/es/). In addition, 3 to 5 JEL codes should be added, according to the American Economic Association (https://www.aeaweb.org/econlit/jelCodes.php).
Body of the Article. Research articles should contain the following structure: 1) Introduction; 2) Literature Review; 3) Methodology; 4) Analysis of Results; 5) Conclusions, Limitations and Implications; and 6) References. Regarding review articles, reflection articles, theoretical articles and methodological articles, the structure of the article may vary according to the author’s intention and approach. However, all articles should include the following parts: title, abstract, keywords, body of the text and references.
References. The final part of the text should include a list of bibliographic references containing all references and only those cited within the text, in tables, graphs, figures (illustrations) and notes. The number of references should range from 25 to 75. The cited bibliography should be relevant, updated and strictly referenced in the text. In addition, references to unpublished works should be avoided, and other publications by the same authors should not be cited repeatedly.
FORMAT POLICY
JM&BS considers a number of formatting standards in the article evaluation process. Articles that do not comply with the format rules will not continue the evaluation process.
Extension. The article will be received exclusively in Microsoft Word format, fully editable, in Spanish, English or Portuguese, through OJS. Articles must have a minimum length of 10 pages (pages) and a maximum of 20, A4 size, with consecutive numbering of all pages. This extension includes the cover page (first page), graphics, tables, figures (illustrations) and references.
Language. The articles are published in Spanish, English or Portuguese.
Letter. Letter Times New Roman, size 16 for titles, size 14 for subtitles and size 12 for the body of the article. Spacing is double, simple spacing, and titles and subtitles are written in bold.
Margins. Upper and lower margins of 2.5 cm, and left and right margins of 3 cm., and in design with header and footer of 1cm (blank, only for use in editing part of the magazine).
Paragraphs. The beginning of a new paragraph should be indicated by indenting five spaces in the left margin. Paragraphs should be in justified format.
Textual citations. If the article contains textual citations less than five lines, these should be in the body of the text, in quotation marks. If the extension is larger, they should be written in a separate paragraph, indented throughout the paragraph, without quotation marks, in the same font size (Times New Roman 12) and in single space. Where the citation contains additions and omissions by the author, these should be enclosed in square brackets.
Acronym. If you use acronyms or other acronyms they should be in capital letters and the first time it is mentioned you should write the full name followed by the acronym or the acronym in parentheses.
Chapters. The different titles and subtitles of the chapters must be numbered with numbers, in capital and bold format.
Annexes. Annexes should not be included at the end of the article. All annexes must be incorporated analytically into the body of the article (tables, graphs, figures, etc.).
Final list of references. The final part of the text should include a list of bibliographic references containing all references and only those cited within the text, in tables, graphs, figures, etc., and in the notes.
Citation style. For the use of the citation, it complies with the standards designed by the American Psychological Association (APA), with DOI added for electronic disclosure documents. The system of citation, certification and presentation of graphs and figures should also follow the current APA standards. EVALUATION POLICY
Articles submitted for evaluation at JM&BS should be high-quality academic research in business and administration. The submission of any type of article implies that the authors accept the editorial rules of JM&BS and that they authorize the editorial committee to disseminate the works both on the electronic page of the journal and in the databases or indexing systems printed or electronic in where their contents are hosted.
The receipt of an article does not imply the commitment of JM&BS for its publication. Authors may use the material in their article in other works, articles or books published by themselves, provided that WYD is cited as the original source of the texts.
The views expressed in each work belong to its authors and will not compromise WYD or the Autonomous University of Chile. The legal issues that may arise from the transfer of materials for the journal JM&BS will be the responsibility of their authors.
JM&BS is published biannually in two issues in June and December in an annual volume. However, articles are received throughout the year and each author may not publish more than one article per number. Articles should be uploaded to the journal platform, where questions regarding: originality, assignment of rights and reproduction of materials should be answered. In the application message you must also attach the curriculum card of the authors in OJS. This sheet contains the author’s complete data (institution, postal address, e-mail address and telephone number) and a brief overview of his academic background (professional studies and degrees academics, and institutions that awarded them) and research experience (lines of research, research projects and major publications).
JM&BS carries out the full evaluation process in an average time of 4 months. This evaluation process consists of 3 stages:
1) Revision of the editorial committee. The editorial committee will make an evaluation prior to the process of assigning peers, in order to verify that the article complies with the guidelines of presentation and that its theme responds to the editorial lines. This review is carried out within a maximum of 3 weeks. Those articles that comply with the editorial policies of the journal, that comply with the expected requirements of a scientific article and that represent a contribution to the literature and knowledge of the area of study, will pass to the expert peer review system "double blind". In some cases, the editor will ask the authors to make modifications to the article, before being submitted to peer review. The decision whether or not to continue the evaluation process will be announced by note to the authors, which will be sent by email.
2) Peer review by evaluators. Articles that pass the review stage of the editorial committee will be submitted to the criteria of two peer reviewers who will perform double blind review (Double-blind Peer Review). The evaluating peers will send their concept (evaluation) within a maximum of 2 months. If there is no unanimity in the evaluation, a third evaluator will be called or the decision will be submitted for consideration by the editorial committee. In the case of a third evaluator, the evaluation process will have an additional duration of 4 weeks. The results of the evaluation will be announced by note to the authors, which will be sent by email and registered in OJS. Articles may be approved without modification, approved with slight modifications, approved with substantial modifications, or rejected.
3) Final version of the article. In the case of articles that are accepted with modifications (light or substantial), the authors must submit the final version of the article with the relevant corrections within a period of no more than 3 weeks. Authors must submit a letter with the justification of each of the corrections made. The editorial committee of the journal will verify the final version based on the opinions and will inform the authors in which issue of the journal their work will be published. This notification will be made within a maximum of 3 weeks after receiving the corrected version of the article. The accepted articles will be submitted to style correction and their publication will be subject to the availability of space or the theme addressed in each issue. The publication letter of the article will be sent by the authors by email. The editorial board may authorize the authors to submit the modifications in advance. Also, the editorial committee reserves the right to make any style correction adjustments it deems necessary.
