Abstract

Understanding the effect of Kenesio Taping on biomechanical changes during movements associated with an anterior cruciate ligament injury is important, as it can assist the physical therapist, trainer or individual in choosing effective injury prevention. Furthermore, in the rehabilitation process Kenesio Taping from an empirical point of view has been shown to be effective in improving the mechanics of the knee joint. In this sense, the aim of this narrative review is to provide an overview of existing studies on the effectiveness of Kenesio Taping in the postoperative rehabilitation phase of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Regarding the methodology of this narrative review, the starting point was a classification of the literature available in databases such as: PudMed, ClinicalKey, Dialnet, EBSC, SemanticSholar and Redalyc. The search was expanded with different search combinations using Boolean operators: AND and OR, as required. Once the narrative review was performed, it is conclusive that Kenesio Taping can be used as an adjunct to conventional therapy to improve range of motion and relieve pain, especially when a quick effect is needed. This is based on its effectiveness, since from the studies presented in this review an influence is observed.
