Abstract

Objective: to determine the relationship between the distance covered at 10, 20, 30 and 40 minutes with the effectiveness of the free throw (LTL) in high-performance adult category basketball players. Methodology: the study was of a descriptive and non-experimental correlational type, for which a population of 20 adult male category players from the Truenos de Talca club between 16-38 years old was studied, where the launch of the basal free throw (LTLb) was evaluated.) of each player prior to the intervention, later the LTL was reassessed at 10, 20, 30 and 40 minutes respectively after having run linearly on the regulation size court with an intensity of 60-70% of Karvonen. Results: the level of effectiveness of the free throws showed as the basketball players increased their distance traveled, in the first quarter the athletes averaged 72.5% effectiveness covering approximately 2.08 km and at the end of the 40 minutes the players recorded an effectiveness of 45% with an average accumulated distance of 7.55 km. The correlations between PROM LTLb and PROM DR (-0.900) show that there is indeed an inverse connection, that is, the greater the distance traveled is lower the effectiveness of the throws. Conclusion: it is possible to identify a relationship between the distance covered by the players on the field of play and the effectiveness of the free throw.
