Resumen

El abandono de los estudios es un problema global que afecta prácticamente a todas las universidades y cuyas consecuencias repercuten no solo en el desarrollo de las personas que lo sufren, sino también en el desarrollo de las sociedades en las que los desertores se insertan. El proyecto europeo Gestión Universitaria Integral del Abandono (GUIA), implementado en 21 instituciones de educación superior, asume este enfoque y adopta entre sus líneas de acción el conocimiento científico del problema. Así, las instituciones participantes han desarrollado una investigación paralelamente, cuyos resultados conjuntos están aún siendo analizados. La Universidad de Oviedo, institución asociada del proyecto GUIA, da cuenta aquí de los resultados obtenidos en dicho estudio. Los análisis descriptivos y correlaciónales, así como los análisis multivariante de la varianza (MANOVA), realizados sobre una muestra de 1,311 sujetos, identifican las variables que mantienen relación con el fenómeno en diversos contextos. Destaca —sin embargo— la influencia de las variables relativas al estudiante en la toma de decisiones respecto a su permanencia.
