Peer review policy
Peer review policy
JM&BS is published on an ongoing basis. However, articles are received throughout the year and each author may not publish more than one article per issue. Articles should be uploaded to the magazine’s platform, where questions regarding originality, assignment of rights, reproduction of materials and use of artificial intelligence should be answered. The authors' curriculum sheet in OJS must also be attached to the application message. This sheet contains the full details of the author (institution, postal address, e-mail address and ORCID) and a brief description of his academic background (professional studies and academic degrees, and institutions that awarded them) and research experience (research lines, research projects and main publications).
JM&BS carries out the entire assessment process in an average time of 4 months. This assessment process consists of 3 stages:
1) Editorial board review. The editorial board will carry out an evaluation prior to the peer assignment process, in order to verify that the article complies with the presentation guidelines and that its theme responds to the editorial lines. This review takes place within a maximum of 3 weeks. Those articles that comply with the editorial policies of the journal, that meet the expected requirements of a scientific article and that represent a contribution to the literature and knowledge of the area of study will be evaluated by experts using the "double blind" system. In some cases, the editor will ask authors to make modifications to the article before it is submitted for peer review. The decision whether or not to continue with the evaluation process will be made known in a note to the authors, which will be sent by the journal’s platform.
2) Peer evaluation. Articles that pass the review stage of the editorial board will be submitted to the criterion of two peer reviewers who will carry out double-blind review (Double-blind Peer Review). The peer reviewers will submit their concept (evaluation) within a maximum of 2 months. If there is no unanimity in the evaluation, a third evaluator will be convened or the decision will be submitted for consideration by the editorial board. In the case of a third evaluator, the evaluation process will take an additional 4 weeks. The results of the evaluation will be communicated to the authors by means of a note, which will be registered in OJS. Articles may be approved without modification, approved with minor modifications, approved with substantial modifications or rejected.
3) Final version of the article. In the case of articles that are accepted with modifications (slight or substantial), the authors must deliver the final version of the article with the relevant corrections within a period not greater than 3 weeks. Authors should submit a letter justifying each correction made. The journal’s editorial board will verify the final version based on the opinions and inform the authors in which issue of the journal their work will be published. This notification will be made within a maximum of 3 weeks after receipt of the corrected version of the article. Accepted articles will be subject to style correction and their publication will be subject to the availability of space or the theme addressed in each issue. The letter of publication of the article will be sent by e-mail. The editorial board may grant authors a longer deadline for submitting amendments. The editorial board also reserves the right to make any style correction adjustments it deems necessary.
