Abstract

Objective(s): The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of a functional physical training program on balance, dynamic stability and limb strength in firefighters from the fifth company in the city of Talca. Methodology: The study design is quasi-experimental, quantitative, intra-subject, longitudinal, through a four-week functional physical exercise program, where indicators such as balance, stability and lower extremity strength were evaluated. Twelve volunteers over 18 years of age were included, who remained active firefighters for the company, without presenting chronic or acute physical disability, for whom they had signed the consent and had complied with the physical condition evaluations. Result: The data obtained showed a normal distribution, with a reliability level of 95%. The figures obtained for the variables of balance and strength of the lower extremity obtained a significant difference p < 0.05, except for the anterior and posteromedial dynamic stability p >0.05. Conclusion: The functional physical exercise program generated significant changes in balance and lower extremity strength, but not in dynamic stability.
