Abstract

The study describes and comparatively analyzes the initiatives proposed by four prominent cities that are part of the Buenos Aires metropolitan area in the face of the challenges imposed by covid-19 in relation to the use of public spaces in the territories. For its analysis, the concepts of territory and urban and participatory governance are recovered. The methodological approach is qualitative in both the collection method and the data analysis and starts from the selection of an intentional sample of four cases with similarities and differences in a number of properties that enrich comparative look. It is concluded that, in a context of socio-sanitary restrictions such as that experienced in previous years, the metropolises have redesigned their policy agendas and deployed public space initiatives from a technical-political perspective, paying less attention to the emerging demands in the territories.
