High Intensity Interval Training (Hiit) On Physical Condition And Perception Of Effort In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Practicers
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) in improving physical fitness and perceived exertion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners of different ages and skill levels by assessing maximal strength, maximal aerobic endurance, and perceived exertion. Methodology: A mixed pre-experimental longitudinal study was designed, consisting of a sample of twelve (12) subjects. The final selection of the sample was made up of those participants who met the proposed inclusion and exclusion criteria. This sample participated in a high intensity intervallic training three times a week for 20 minutes for 6 weeks. For the initial and final assessment of maximal strength, the Brzycki test was used. Maximal aerobic endurance was assessed using the Cooper test and the modified Borg scale for perceived exertion. Results: A comparison between before and after intervention was performed through a comparative analysis (t-Student) of the same sample at two separate times for related samples and a frequency table for effort. The results showed significant differences (P<0.05) in both strength and maximal aerobic endurance and a decrease in perceived exertion. Conclusion: It was determined that high intensity intervallic training applied for 6 weeks had a significant impact on the improvement of physical condition and perception of effort in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners.
