Peer review process
Peer review process
The papers or contributions presented to the Justice & Law Journal of the Autonomous University of Chile will be reviewed under the double-blind modality with external peers. The editorial committee of the journal once received the articles, will begin by the verification of its rules, the search for similarities with Turnitin, in addition to its grammatical correction, spelling, accuracy and novelty, by the editorial team of the journal, according to the guidelines available on the journal’s website. In no case does the request made to the authors to make corrections to the works mean any commitment of publication by the Justice & Law Journal of the Autonomous University of Chile.
The doctrine studies and commentaries of judgments, previously reviewed by the editorial team, will be evaluated by the double-blind method by at least two arbitrations appointed by the management of the Justice & Law Journal of the Autonomous University of Chile.
The journal considers the following works for review:
- Studies or doctrinal articles
- Comments on judgments
- Reviews or bibliographical reviews
- Communications
In the case of articles of doctrine, express mention should be made of the discipline of the law to which the work or contribution refers and, where appropriate, the circumstance of being submitted to other editing sites as part of a more extensive work. Once the thematic relevance has been confirmed, and the editor’s compliance with the publication rules, sends the original document to two external academic peers, under the double-blind modality. Reviewers must complete a form and finally evaluate according to the defined categories:
a) Assessment of formal aspects of the article:
-The title of the article correctly relates to the content of this
-The structure of the article (including the parts in which it is divided, the relationship between them and the titles of the different sections) allows an adequate understanding.
- The author uses appropriate legal language
b) Assessment of substantive aspects of the article
- The work is part of some discipline of the law either national or comparative
- It is an original and/or innovative work
- The author raises the legal problem in a clear and well-argued way
- The author makes appropriate use of the updated bibliography and case law
- The author demonstrates a good handling of the problem
c) Final evaluation of the article
- The article can be presented without any comment
- The article must be amended in accordance with the observations, for publication.
- The article cannot be published. It does not meet the minimum requirements for a publication
The articles referred to in paragraphs b) and c) must submit an amended version within two weeks. If the editor deems it appropriate, he may request a third blind evaluation before the final decision, which consists of acceptance or rejection.
